Its primary application is in AC-to-DC power rectification, where it can be configured as a single half-wave rectifier or in a four-diode bridge configuration for full-wave rectification. Integration Notes

When integrating the 1N4006 into your projects, pay close attention to physical installation. The cathode of the diode is clearly marked by a painted band on the plastic body; current flows from the anode (unmarked side) to the cathode (marked side). When bending the axial leads for through-hole mounting, avoid applying excessive stress directly at the body-lead interface, as this can crack the internal glass passivation layer and cause device failure. It is recommended to support the lead with pliers while bending. For optimal thermal performance, keep the lead lengths as short as practical when soldering to a PCB, as the copper traces act as effective heatsinks to draw heat away from the silicon junction. If hand-soldering, use a standard 35W to 60W soldering iron and complete the joint within 3 seconds to prevent thermal stress.
