An active cooler for the Raspberry Pi 5: a finned aluminium heatsink that covers the processor, memory, power chip and RP1, with a 30 mm blower fan on top. The fan plugs into the Pi 5’s own 4-pin fan header, so Raspberry Pi OS drives it with PWM - silent while idle, spinning up only when the board gets warm.

Without cooling a Pi 5 reaches its 85 °C throttle point within minutes of sustained load and slows down. With this cooler fitted it holds full clock speed, which matters for compiling, media servers, AI workloads, desktop use and anything running inside a case.

Run vcgencmd measure_temp in a terminal. Under a stress test the temperature should settle well below 70 °C and the fan should audibly step up as the board warms. The fan speed thresholds can be changed in /boot/firmware/config.txt if you want it quieter or more aggressive.
